Think Insurance
A Wisconsin Insurance Education Initiative
Interested in an exciting, challenging, and fast paced career in one of the best industries in Wisconsin? Would you like opportunities to travel, further your education, and build a firm foundation of respectable experience? THINK INSURANCE.
By 2011, the insurance industry will be adding over 11,000 new jobs for motivated and hard working individuals. With the majority of upper level management moving on to retirement, fresh faces will be needed to fill this talent gap. Careers are available in IT, Finance, Sales, Management, Marketing, Human Resources, Underwriting, Claims, etc. Any liberal arts major can successfully transfer their skills into a great position within the insurance field.
In response to this upcoming deficit, WFIC, in collaboration with over 40 insurance organizations and through support of the 20 private colleges in the state, have formed a unique partnership. We provide unique programs that allow students to become engaged in what the industry has to offer a young college student or recent graduate. Many students who have participated in at least one of our program efforts are now successfully employed within this great industry.
A position with an insurance organization guarantees opportunities to learn and grow, both as a professional and as a person. Choose an industry that has a heart. Look outside the box. Take a chance. THINK INSURANCE.
Insurance Internships
WFIC sponsors an intensive hands-on summer internship program better known as "College-to-Work." We provide students with real professional experiences at insurance organizations all across the state. These internships are 10 full weeks in length and they expose students to all of the facets that make up a successful insurance organization. You are compensated with bi-weekly paychecks in addition to a scholarship to be distributed during the following academic year. You must be freshman-junior to apply.
Insurance internships are also available at organizations outside of the College-to-Work Program. Many companies execute their own internship program for college students and therefore do not work through WFIC. These internships are sponsored directly by the specific organization and provide payment but no attached scholarship. Insurance Institute
Each summer during the month of June, WFIC hosts an intensive Insurance Education Institute. This completely FREE seminar combines engaging presentations by some of the industries top professionals, hands-on case study work, exciting networking events with executives (Brewers game & tail-gate event, golf outing, formal dinner) and ample opportunities to really get a ‘feel’ for what the industry is all about. This year, three institute locations will be offered: Milwaukee, Fond du Lac & Stevens Point.

WFIC provides all food, housing, and transportation for each participant throughout the week. Entrance to this institute is competitive and students are required to submit an application and resume in order to be considered. Upon completion of this institute students will receive a certificate and may reference this conference as professional training on their resume.
Campus Events
A wide variety of events take place at private colleges in Wisconsin throughout the entire academic year. Professional presentations in classrooms, intimate round table discussions with executives, company site visits and tours are just several of the unique events taking place this year at your own campus!
These events provide an opportunity for you to network and mingle with professionals in the insurance field as well as ask any real questions you may have about a future career within the industry. We have many young, motivated and eager professionals that are looking forward to meeting you.

Networking Capstone Events
For those students that attend a campus exposure event and are interested in engaging in more personalized networking with leading industry professionals, WFIC sponsors two Capstone Networking Events per year. These events are free of charge to the student and offer upperclassman and upcoming graduates the opportunity to mingle and network in a comfortable and relaxed setting. Traditionally, we provide an evening of good food and live entertainment. These events are similar to the large-scale networking gatherings that take place at our Summer Institute.
Curriculum & Courses
Several of the colleges in our network are now offering exciting courses in the topics of Insurance and Insurance industry careers. Taught by experienced professors and fueled by outside assistance from some of Wisconsin’s top Insurance organizations, these courses are an excellent way to learn about all the possibilities for future employment within the industry.
